ERP Go-Live Readiness Checklist
An ERP Go-Live Readiness Checklist ensures that your
team, data, systems, and operational procedures are fully validated before
flipping the switch to the new ERP. Moving to go-live without meeting these
criteria is the single biggest cause of post-implementation business
disruption.
1. Governance & Management Gatekeepers
Before proceeding, executive sponsors and project
leads must sign off on project completion metrics:
Executive Sign-Off: Project sponsors, department heads, and
implementation partners formally approve go-live.
Go/No-Go Criteria Defined: Clear thresholds set for critical
bugs, data errors, and training completion (e.g., zero severity-1 issues
remaining).
Rollback & Contingency Plan: Documented protocol and timeline for
reverting to legacy systems if a catastrophic failure occurs during cutover.
Hypercare Support Team Assigned: Dedicated floor walkers, helpdesk
agents, and technical leads scheduled for 24/7 post-launch coverage.
3. Cutover Execution Roadmap
A structured cutover phase minimizes downtime during
the transition weekend or period:
1.Phase 1: Pre-Cutover Preparation:T-Minus 7 to 3 Days.
Validate final delta data extraction scripts from
legacy systems.
Freeze non-essential master data updates (e.g., new
vendor creation, chart of accounts changes).
Issue final go-live announcement and system downtime
schedule to all internal and external stakeholders.
2.Phase 2: Data Migration & System Cutover:Go-Live Weekend / Downtime Window.
Freeze Legacy System: Set legacy databases to read-only
mode to stop active transactions.
Extract & Load Delta Data: Run final data loads for open
purchase orders, inventory balances, accounts receivable/payable, and trial
balances.
Reconcile Financials: Perform 1:1 financial reconciliation
between legacy trial balance and new ERP general ledger.
3.Phase 3: Technical & Operational Validation:T-Minus 12 Hours.
Sanity Testing: Project team conducts synthetic transaction tests in the
production environment.
Integrations Check: Verify live API connections to bank feeds, payment
gateways, e-commerce, and EDI systems.
Final Go/No-Go Meeting: Project leadership signs off on
official system opening.
4.Phase 4: Hypercare Launch:Day 1 Post Go-Live.
Unlock ERP access for end users across all business
units.
Deploy Super Users on floor/virtual war rooms to
resolve first-day entry errors in real time.
Conduct daily end-of-day triage meetings to review
open helpdesk tickets and system performance.
